August 22nd from 10 a.m. – noon | Discharge paperwork will also be recorded.
Representative Kate Harper and Senator Stewart Greenleaf are joining with Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Jeanne Sorg to host a Veteran’s discount ID event. The event will be held:
Those with questions or those who plan to attend should contact Harper’s Blue Bell office at 610-277-3230 or Greenleaf’s Willow Grove office at 215-657-7700. Please RSVP by Aug. 17.
Note: Montgomery County veterans who plan to attend the event will need to bring copies of discharge paperwork and a form of photo identification.
During the event, Montgomery County veterans will be able to obtain a photo ID card that entitles them to discounts for goods and services from more than 500 participating county merchants. They will also be able to have their discharge papers recorded at no charge.
Once a veteran’s DD214 is recorded, he or she and their family members will be able to access the document directly through the Recorder of Deeds website. Recording the document also ensures the paperwork isn’t lost or destroyed.
“Our veterans have done so much for our country and our communities, and I want to make sure they have the opportunity to take advantage of all the benefits available to them,” Harper said. “Accessing valuable discounts and having easy, convenient access to discharge papers are both helpful services offered by the county, and I encourage veterans take part.”
