The June solstice also called the summer solstice, is on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 4:50 PM EDT, and is the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. On this day, we will have the longest period of sunlight hours and the shortest night of the calendar year. The summer solstice marks the shortest day for those living south of the equator.
