The Foulkeways September Lobby Art Exhibit features artists Linda and John Gist. Both have BFAs in Illustration from the Philadelphia College of Art, now the University of the Arts. They have taught Illustration and Drawing at numerous local educational institutions and work as commercial artists with expertise in Botanical Illustration.
Foulkeways Lobby Art is free, and open to the public, daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
John Gist was graduated from the Philadelphia College of art, now University of the Arts, in Philadelphia, Pa.with a BFA in Illustration.
He taught Illustration and drawing at Moore College of Art, University of the Arts and Woodmere Museum, all in Philadelphia, and the Maryland Art Institute in Baltimore. He and his wife Linda create designs and illustrations for national and international clients. He was included in the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators juried exhibition at the 2006 and 2007 Philadelphia Flower Show, the 2005 and 2006 American Society of Botanical Art juried exhibition, the 12th International Exhibition of the Hunt Instutute for Botanical Documentation opening in September, 2007, and Woodmere Museum’s 2006 juried exhibition.
Linda Gist received a BFA in Illustration from the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts).
She has created artwork for diverse national and international clients and her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions by the Society of Illustrators in New York, the Art Directors Club of Denver, the Phila. Art Directors Club and Woodmere Museum of Art. She was included in the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators’ juried exhibition at the Philadelphia Flower Show in ’04 , ’06, and ’07, and The American Society of Botanical Art juried exhibition in New York 2006. She has also had solo exhibitions at Cabrini College and the Horticultural Society of Philadelphia.
She has taught Illustration at the University of the Arts and currently teaches a once-yearly workshop in Botanical Illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Linda especially enjoys working from botanical subjects grown by her husband, John, in their own garden.
