Sometimes you find the most extraordinary art in the most unexpected places. I Make What I Am is an installation by James Fuhrman of sculpture, paintings, and writings being featured at Foulkeways at Gwynedd’s viewing gallery from now through October 2nd. The exhibition, which both surprises and questions, is open 8am-8pm and by appointment with the artist.
“This exhibition/installation is an autobiographical, complete single work … a picture of how I work…. who I am, and…how I become who I am: –writing- painting-contemplation-sculpture—all interconnecting,” reflects artist, Jay Fuhrman.
Fuhrman traces a 60 year-long art path beginning with Graham calligraphic image paintings connecting to the gestural Enso-like strokes, to the most layered of the digital graphics and to the smallest and largest sculptures.
View James Fuhrman’s exhibition from now through Oct 2nd and join the artist and friends at the Artist’s Reception, Talk and Slide Show on Friday, September 20, 6 pm in the Foulkeways Auditorium.
Over five decades, Fuhrman’s work has been commissioned and exhibited in Scotland, Brazil and Japan and many U.S. sites— New York City, Bellingham, WA, Miami, Michigan and many large scale public artworks in Philadelphia – and most recently at Pendle Hill Quaker Center in Wallingford.
