March 8th: International Women’s Day 2024
March 8th is International Women’s Day (IWD), a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day is also a time when groups come together worldwide to rally for women’s equality and celebrate women’s achievements. IWD started over a century ago with the first gathering held in 1911.
Purple, green, and white are the colors of International Women’s Day. Purple signifies justice and dignity, green stands for hope, and white represents purity. The colors originated from the UK’s Women’s Social and Political Union in 1908. Learn more about IWD at International Women’s Day’s website.
Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist, and activist once stated “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
Foulkeways is proud to support and celebrate all women worldwide. We are mindful of the fundamental worth of every individual, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, sexual preference, or national origin.
