Residents, staff, and Priority List members got into the holiday spirit with The DePue Brothers Band’s performance, which was filled with traditional holiday favorites and original tunes. The band’s unique musical style blended bluegrass and classical music, while adding elements of jazz, blues, rock, and even country!
Don Liuzzi, principal timpanist-percussionist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the percussionist of the band, was instrumental in bringing this performance to Foulkeways, along with Foulkeways resident Janet Wallace. “A Magical, Grassical Christmas” was one of the first special events to start the celebration for Foulkeways’s 50th anniversary year.
The DePue brothers are members of a musical family from Northwest Ohio who were named “Musical Family of America” in 1989, and later were presented in a PBS documentary. If you haven’t seen them perform live yet, you can enjoy their music YouTube.
