Foulkeways February and March artist is Jose Sebourne, a native of Costa Rica, who came to the United States at the age of 10. His inquisitive nature for art began at the tender age of six watching a local artist draw a portrait of a young man. In high school, one of his teachers observed his unique ability and as a result, a special art program was created solely for him.
At age 16, he received citywide recognition in Bridgeport, Connecticut, when he was commissioned to direct the creation of a mural, which is on permanent display in the city hall. In 2004, Jose was commissioned by the University of Pennsylvania to produce three awards to be presented to the governor, a congressman, and a physician for their support for the fight against HIV/AIDS. His production of the award was such a success that the University chose his creation to be the annual representation for this event.
We are very fortunate to have him showcase his new medium here in our gallery. Jose Sebourne’s art will be on display through March 31st.
